I had a pleasure of doing Julie’s wedding makeup, looking back, it reminds me how much fun we both had creating this beautiful look. As the wedding season is fast approaching, I hope this post can help you find the right beauty tools for all you brides to be.
Key products used:
- Smashbox Photo Matte Anti-shine Primer
- Tom Ford Traceless Perfecting Foundation 03
- Heroine Japanese Long & Curl Mascara
- Tom Ford Liquid Liner
- Tom Ford Brow Sculptor Espresso
- Mac Mineralize Powder Light Plus
- Tom Ford Blusher Frantic Pink (from the image you can tell how much I love this blusher)
- Charlotte Tilbury Lip Pencil Pillow Talk
- Tom Ford Lipstick Pink Dusk
Julie is a natural beauty, she’s got good skin with lovely freckles. I chose the Tom Ford perfecting foundation because it adds a perfect filter to the skin without masking her complexion.
For the eyes I added extra definition by applying Tom Ford liquid liner on the eyelids, I used a soft Mac pencil in Definedly Black on the lower lash line and a couple coats of mascara to enhance the lashes. This Japanese mascara is amazing for asian lashes because it really holds the curls for the whole day and does not run. As for the brows I kept them well groomed by filling the gaps with Tom Ford brow sculptor in Espresso.
To finish off the look, I used my all time favourite Tom Ford blusher in Frantic Pink on the apples of Julie’s cheeks and on the lips I used Tom Ford lipstick in Pink Dusk and Charlotte Tilbury lip liner in Pillow Talk.

One my my favourite brands for lipsticks is Tom Ford. The colours are so devine and the creamy texture make them very comfortable to wear. Everything about these lipsticks from quality, texture, and beautiful packaging have “Tom Ford” style written all over it. The lipsticks are so amazing I just want them all! Right now I have a small collection of the lipsticks and so far I have been very pleased with all of them. If you are thinking about getting one of the lipsticks I hope the above image of swatches can help you out.
From left to right:
- Velvet Cherry (Matte Finish)
- Wild Ginger
- Scarlet Rouge
- True Coral
- Coco Ravish
- Sable Smoke
- Indian Rose
- Spanish Pink
- Blush Nude
Velvet Cherry is part of the matte collection. It has a unique blend of cherry tones that gives off a “vampy” look. If you are a fan of dark lipsticks with a good quality finish, definitely give this colour a go.
In summer I tend to wear bright colours like Wild Ginger, Flamingo or True Coral. I like to dress the lipsticks with a simple coat of mascara and eyeliner on the eyes because all the focus should be on the mouth.
On the other hand, when I am doing smokey eyes, I love using a soft nude lipstick that will compliment the look. In which case Sable Smoke or Blush Nude will be my go to lipsticks.

Today I want to share my quick fix for a beautiful natural tan. The product that I’m using is Terracotta Spray from Guerlain in 01 Light. It is very simple to use. Make sure you shake the can before use, spray from a arm length distance over the face and voilà! This product dries quickly, to ensure the look is even I always use a buffing brush to buff the product into the skin. After that you can feel free to apply your makeup as usual. In the image above I only have my regular moisturiser and Terracoota spray as my base, I’m also wearing a little bit of Tom Ford brow sculptor and my usual black mascara.
As I mentioned this is a quick fix, so once you cleanse your face the product will wash off.
Having trouble deciding what makeup to bring with you at a festival? My suggestion is to keep it simple and easy. Try using some gold face paint from Kryolan. Using a cotton bud, dip it into the gold face paint and dot the paint along the forehead for that quirky tribal look. Turn up this simple look with a head chain in gold, and now you’re ready to party!
Do you want this gorgeous sun kissed look? Here’s how.
For this look, I used Tom Ford Bronzer – Gold Dust as a contour. I used most of this product on the cheek bones, temples and on the nose to give the illusion of being in the sun for hours. This is one of my favourite bronzers, because the warm undertone gives off a very natural bronze finish, without looking too dark or muddy.
I then reinforced the contour using Mac Sculpting Powder – Shadowy, on the hollow of the cheek bones for extra definition.
To finish of the look, I kept the lips very neutral with Tom Ford Lip Colour – Coco Ravish.
Whilst having the best time on my ski trip, my skin on the other hand broke out and became very irritated and dehydrated. Once I got back home, I immediately piled on my moisturiser which made things even worse! My skin broke out in spots all over my face. I tried washing my face with the Crème De La Mer gel cleanser as I usually do but my sore skin, made it difficult to cleanse thoroughly. Which got me thinking, maybe I need to break down the dirt and grime in my pores before I use my moisturiser. Having heard plenty of good reviews on the Foreo cleanser, I decided to give it a go. Here is how I got on..
Skin Before Using Foreo Cleanser
As you can see, there are some lumps and bumps on my face. My skin felt very sensitive, not to mention the colour of the spots turned dark due to sun damage when I was skiing (even though I was wearing sun lotion everyday!).
Week One Results After Using Foreo Cleanser
In one week, I have already noticed a difference. My face felt so much more hydrated and comfortable. The dark spots are still there but have faded a lot. Before the Foreo cleanser, I used to use my hands when I wash my face. My skin felt clean but I was not “wow”ed by the results. Since using the Foreo cleanser, I finally got that “squeaky clean” satisfaction. Not to mention it was very gentle on the areas that I have eczema. For sure, I will carry on using the Foreo cleanser for another week, and we shall see what happens..
Have you been thinking about what nail colour to wear this summer? Are you looking for a bright nail polish to wear for upcoming festivals?
Right now, I am totally in love with Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine nail polishes. Amazing vibrant colours, super high shine and last up to 1 week. They come in so many different colours and only cost £3.99. I usually purchase my nail polish from Superdrugs, especially when they have their 3 for 2 offers. I recommend that you check in Superdrugs and other drug stores for their latest offers.
Cannot decide on which colour to wear? My answer is, wear all of them! Summer is all about clashing bright colours together, experiment with bright colours and see what suits your skin tone best. Here, I am wearing Barry M’s 326 Key Lime, 332 Greenberry, 335 Blueberry and 337 Mango.
For those of you that have the spare time, try mixing up the multi coloured look by adding different coloured stripes on each nail.
If you are not good with doing nails like me, find some plasters at home and cut them in small strips. Apply the plasters onto the nail, this will be your guideline and give you a straight line every time! So now you can simply paint over the plasters and let it dry for a few minutes. Remove the plasters and let it completely dry for another 10 minutes before applying top coat to seal your work.
So there you have it, cute multi coloured nails for summer! 🙂
We all have days where our face looks dull, lifeless and dehydrated. A great way to revitalise your face is with a moisturiser like Embryolisse. This moisturiser is great for all skin types, I particularly like how the light milky texture feels on my skin as well as how comfortable it is to wear all day. The Embryolisse moisturiser contains fatty acids and vitamins that leave the skin looking healthy and radiant. It also mentions on the packaging how it can be used as a make up remover and face cleanser. You might says it’s the Swiss army of moisturisers.
For those of you that are looking for a good face primer, the Tom Ford illuminating primer is another great product although it does come with a heavy price tag, but do not let this put you off. This non sillicone based primer adds a wonderful glow to the skin. For combination skin users, this primer helps to even out the skin tone whilst holding the foundation in place.
If you want glowing skin at a affordable price, Mac Strobe cream is a very popular highlighter cream used by many makeup artists. For instant illuminating skin, simply add this cream on the high points of the face, such as the brow bone, cheek bones and bridge of the nose. This trick will help the face look fresh and stay glowing throughout the day.
